With a bit of a weakened side due to a couple of late dropouts, Stocksbridge Development travelled away to
Ossett who started the game well with 2 quick tries in the first 10 minutes. Stocksbridge seemed to wake up after this and then had a 20 minutes spell of good pressure being camped on the Ossett try line, Lewis Bowman and Luke Gentles twice being held up on the line, Stocksbridge just couldn't seem to capitalise on this and then seemed to take the foot off the pedal and Ossett game back again leaving the half time score at 35-0. Stocksbridge came out better after the game with the lively Jack Spencer taking control of the game and surging runs from man of the match Luke Gentles and Tom Spencer Stocksbridge got over the try line from Gentles. This seemed to lift the spirits and some great plays followed with further trys from Joe Jones and Liam O'Leary all 3 trys nicely converted by Jack Spencer, this got the home side rallying a bit and they came back with a late try. A respectable result for Stocksbridge against a well drilled Ossett side. A big shout out to new player Tom Marshall who in his mid-twenties played his first ever game of Rugby and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your never too late to start playing Rugby and we welcome any ages and abilities at Stocksbridge Rugby Club
